Summer (July and August)

If your child is aged 10 to 14, and would like to study English in Oxford, CIE can help.

The complete juniors programme includes English language lessons in the mornings and afternoon social activities each weekday (Monday to Friday).

In the morning (10-12 years old)

Beginning at 9:00 a.m., you will have three hours of General English lessons in a group of no more than ten students. The first two hours will focus on the 4 main skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary. In the third hour students will be doing project work such as preparing a presentation or play.

In the afternoon (13-14 years old)

Beginning at 13:00 p.m., you will have three hours of General English lessons in a group of no more than ten students. The first two hours will focus on the 4 main skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary. In the third hour students will be doing project work such as preparing a presentation or play.

Our qualified teachers will help you improve your English language skills and there is a greater emphasis on interaction and communication in the lessons. Our specially selected teachers make learning English fun and exciting!

In the morning (13-14 years old)

Most students join our social activities for an enjoyable local outing, such as visiting the Oxford Castle, games and picnics in the park, and ice skating. Social activities generally run from 9:30am and are finished by 12:00.

In the afternoon (10-12 years old)

In the afternoon most students join our social activities for an enjoyable local outing, such as visiting the Oxford Castle, games and picnics in the park, and ice skating. Social activities generally run from 1:30pm and are finished by 4:00pm.

If the student is staying with family or friends while in Oxford, a tuition-only option is available that does not include accommodation or activities.

Students at Christ Church College*Please note that all students under the age of 18 are strongly advised to attend a full-time programme (15 hours of morning lessons + afternoon lessons/activities). Any student under the age of 18 choosing not to attend afternoon activities/lessons must obtain written permission from the parents or guardians because CIE offer no alternative arrangements in the afternoon.

You will receive a certificate at the end of your course stating your level according to the Common European Framework.

All students are provided hot lunch at CIE between 12 and 1pm. Students are able to choose between a variety of freshly prepared food from a buffet.

Accommodation

If you choose the Host Family programme, we will arrange for you to stay with an British family, taking breakfast and the evening meal with them. During mealtimes, you can chat with your host family about your day and life in England. Our students often keep in touch with their host families long after the summer is over.
